Why Enterprises Are Rethinking Salesforce Data Protection

Three problems the market created. One product built to fix them.

Your Backup Vendor is Salesforce

Salesforce acquired Own; backup stored inside the company you're insuring against.

Salesforce Storage Costs Too Much

Premium per-GB rates on records no one has opened in years.

Legacy Tools Take Months Just to Go Live

5+ months. 3-4 resources. That's not setup, that's a project.

360 DataCraft: Your Secure Salesforce Data Recovery Platform

Built for firms that can't afford to get data protection wrong.

Most Granular Restore

Date, time, user, object, record ID, deleted-only, or SOQL. Fix exactly what broke.

Real-Time or Scheduled

Push triggers per object or nightly batch. Mix both in the same account.

Enterprise RBAC

Separate permissions for backup, restore, and archive. Approval workflows built in.

Days to Deploy

No months-long configuration. No implementation consultants. Just install and go.

Storage That Costs Almost Nothing

Data compresses to ~2–5% of Salesforce footprint. Most orgs pay under $400/month on AWS.

Transparent Pricing

Every other storage platform gates pricing behind a sales call. We don't.

Salesforce Backup and Recovery FAQs

The questions buyers and admins ask most before choosing a backup tool.

Does Salesforce back up my data automatically?

Not in the way most teams assume. Salesforce protects the platform, but under its shared responsibility model your own data is yours to protect — an accidental delete, a bad integration job or a mass update is your problem to undo. The Recycle Bin holds deleted records for a limited window only, after which they are gone. A dedicated backup with its own copy and its own restore path is what covers that gap.

What happened to OwnBackup, and why does the Salesforce acquisition matter?

Salesforce acquired Own, previously the dominant third-party Salesforce backup provider. That makes your backup vendor the same company you are insuring against: if Salesforce has an outage or a breach, the odds that the backup is caught in it go up rather than down. Several enterprise legal and compliance teams flagged this independently. 360 DataCraft keeps the backup in your own AWS account, so the copy survives whatever happens to the source.

How do I restore deleted Salesforce records after the Recycle Bin is emptied?

Once the Recycle Bin is emptied, Salesforce cannot bring the records back — you need a backup that kept its own copy. With 360 DataCraft you filter the backup for deleted records on the relevant date, select the records by ID or SOQL, and restore them with their child relationships intact. Records deleted months ago are still recoverable because every change is stored as a new version rather than overwriting the last one.

Can I restore a single field without overwriting everything else?

Yes. Restore can be scoped down to one field on one set of records. The common case is an integration job that overwrote a single field overnight: you select the object, narrow to the date and time window when the job ran, filter to that field, and restore only those values. Every other field and record is left untouched, and a dry run shows exactly what will change before anything is written.

What is BYOC (bring your own cloud) backup for Salesforce?

BYOC means the backup copy lives in cloud storage you own and operate, rather than in the vendor's cloud. With 360 DataCraft you supply your own AWS credentials and the data is written to your own S3 bucket. The middleware moves the data between your Salesforce org and your AWS and never stores it — 360 Degree Cloud has no access to the contents at any point.

How much does Salesforce data storage cost, and how do I reduce it?

Salesforce charges a premium rate per block of data storage, which becomes expensive on old records nobody opens. Archiving moves those records out of Salesforce into low-cost S3 while keeping them restorable on demand, so the storage bill falls without losing the history. Compression takes the stored footprint down to roughly 2–5% of the original, which is why most orgs pay under $400 a month on AWS.

What is the difference between backup and archiving in Salesforce?

Backup copies data to external storage and leaves the records in Salesforce, so you hold two copies and can recover from a mistake. Archiving copies the data out and then deletes the records from Salesforce, which is what actually reduces your storage bill. Both stay restorable on demand — the difference is whether the record is still sitting in the org afterwards.

How long does it take to set up Salesforce backup?

With 360 DataCraft, days — install, connect your AWS account, create a policy, and run it, all point and click. That is the main practical difference from archival-first tools, which have taken large orgs five months and three to four dedicated people to configure, plus professional services fees on top.

Is Salesforce backup required for HIPAA or financial compliance?

Healthcare and financial services in the US operate under data protection rules that mandate backup, which makes it non-discretionary rather than a nice to have. Regulated buyers typically also need to show who can run a restore and who approved it — 360 DataCraft separates backup, restore and archive permissions and supports a draft-and-approve workflow, so the audit trail is there.

Does 360 DataCraft store or see my Salesforce data?

No. Your Salesforce org is yours and your AWS S3 bucket is yours; 360 DataCraft is the middleware that moves data between them. Customer data never lands on 360 Degree Cloud systems, and the storage is accessed with your own AWS credentials. You sign in to the portal with your existing Salesforce credentials, so anyone who leaves the org loses access automatically.

Backup That Isn't Owned by Salesforce

Faster setup, deeper restore control, lower cost than the legacy options.
